Anne Burrell’s Husband Speaks Out After Cause of Death Revealed

The Food Network family and fans around the world were deeply shaken when the beloved chef was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home by her husband, Stuart Claxton. Now, with the cause of her death officially confirmed, her family is mourning a profound loss.

Anne was discovered on the shower floor by Stuart, who immediately called 911. He had last seen her just hours earlier, but that morning, she was found unresponsive and cold. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

Just the day before, Anne seemed her vibrant self—joyfully performing in an improv show and celebrating the finale of her improv course. Friends described her as being in great spirits, full of energy and life.

Five weeks after her passing, the medical examiner ruled Anne’s death a suicide by acute intoxication due to a lethal combination of diphenhydramine, cetirizine, ethanol (alcohol), and amphetamine.

Her husband, Stuart Claxton, is still in total shock and disbelief over Anne’s sudden passing. He shared the heartbreaking moment he found her and the profound impact of the loss.

Her family released a heartfelt statement:

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered. Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

Friends and colleagues remember Anne as a force of nature—warm, energetic, and always ready to bring joy to those around her. The Food Network paid tribute to Anne during the season premiere of Worst Cooks in America, offering an emotional “In Memoriam” and sharing mental health resources for viewers.

Anne Burrell’s passing is a heartbreaking reminder that outward joy can hide unseen struggles. While the official cause of death has brought clarity, the pain of loss remains. Her family, friends, and fans continue to grieve the irreparable void left by her absence.
